Re: Kennet and Trinity schools. « Result #1 on Aug 17, 2006, 10:36am »
We moved to Cold Ash in May 05, already having children at kennet, my daughter has been accepted there and starts in Sept. We were told there are very rarely any problems if you already have a sibling there and this was the case for us. Also be very careful if you move to Thatcham specifically for this reason because great big chunks of Thatcham are trinity catchment also. That said, i have heard that Trinity is progressing fantastically well, and Mr thingy has been greatly involved in this!

Look out for missing car registration plates! « Result #2 on Mar 23, 2005, 3:07pm »
I had my registration plate stolen last night. The car was in the drive but it was unscrewed and taken away!
The man at A-Z said that there is a spate of this going on - the plates are used for congestion charge avoidance and the like.
Presumably the plates are now being stolen as it is more difficult to get them made up - you have to produce the log book etc.
I have reported it to the police, and would recommend other sufferers to as well. Then when two weeks later you receive a congestion charge penalty notice of £80 in the post, you will have at least one leg to stand on.
Cold Ash Fields - new Developments? « Result #4 on Mar 1, 2005, 8:54am »
Hi,
I am considering purchasing a house in Cold Ash. It seems to be a beautiful country village with lovely views. The houses I have looked at have had wonderfield field views, but before I purchase, I would like to know what chance there is of these fields being developed. I am particularly interested in the fields/farmland between Cold Ash and Ashmore Green, as a number of the houses I have seen overlook this area.
Does anyone know much about this land? Does anyone know of any plans to develop on it, or to allow it to be developed on in the future? Conversely does anyone know of any plans to preserve it, and ensure it isn't developed on?

Hello TJ,
Welcome to the forum!
I can confirm that what you say is correct. A few of us went through the pain of attending the council meetings & writing letters etc last year. Ours views were heard by the committee and ignored (IMO).
The official story now is that Cold Ash is in the Trinity catchment area and no longer in Kennet. The Year 7 intake this year were the first to be affected by this. If a child has a sibling at Kennet already then there is still a chance that they will be accepted, but otherwise if you want your child to go to Kennet then you will have to move to Thatcham!
You interest me saying that lots of houses are for sale in Cold Ash, I must say I hadn't paid much attention as there are always a number for sale at any one time. Have you noticed much of an increase in the last year?
Ian

Kennet and Trinity schools. « Result #6 on Oct 23, 2004, 11:01pm »
Hello people,
I'm renting a house in Cold ash and am looking to buy. Part of the attraction was the schools. I have two young girls, one starting school next year. I've heard a rumour today that Kennet School is no longer taking kids from Cold Ash due to all the new houses going up in Thatcham, and that Trinity is the only available school for Cold Ash children. Can anyone back this up?
Apparently this is the reason for so many properties springing up for sale in Cold Ash.

I haven't seen it yet, but no doubt will be going that way soon.
Cycle ways are difficult to get right somehow. There are those that never get used because they are on the pavements, and the cyclist has to stop at every junction, so they just don't bother they ride on the road. Then there are those on the road, that are too narrow, or that cars ignore and so the cyclists cycle on the pavement!

What about the St. John's roundabout "improvements" then? I admit I haven't driven round them yet, but the idea doesn't look good to me. We have someone at work who drives & cycles over every day and isn't happy at all!

I don't know enough about Hunting to know how badly it will affect people.
Having said that, it does seem a slightly outdated activity.
As usual the government seem to have made an almighty mess of it all; didn't they promised the ban in 1989? It could have all been over and done with years ago...
