 Kennet and Trinity schools.

Hello people,

I'm renting a house in Cold ash and am looking to buy. Part of the attraction was the schools. I have two young girls, one starting school next year. I've heard a rumour today that Kennet School is no longer taking kids from Cold Ash due to all the new houses going up in Thatcham, and that Trinity is the only available school for Cold Ash children. Can anyone back this up?

Apparently this is the reason for so many properties springing up for sale in Cold Ash.

Thanks

TJ

Hello TJ,

Welcome to the forum!

I can confirm that what you say is correct. A few of us went through the pain of attending the council meetings & writing letters etc last year. Ours views were heard by the committee and ignored (IMO).

The official story now is that Cold Ash is in the Trinity catchment area and no longer in Kennet. The Year 7 intake this year were the first to be affected by this.
If a child has a sibling at Kennet already then there is still a chance that they will be accepted, but otherwise if you want your child to go to Kennet then you will have to move to Thatcham!

You interest me saying that lots of houses are for sale in Cold Ash, I must say I hadn't paid much attention as there are always a number for sale at any one time. Have you noticed much of an increase in the last year?

Ian

PS. I would recommend that you hide your e-mail address in case some joker sees it and decides to send you some spam!

1. Log on
2. Click 'profile' at the top
3. Look under 'preferences' near the bottom and check the box next to "Hide your e-mail from public".

If anyone on the board wants to send you an email they can do so by sending a private message on the forum, but your e-mail address will be hidden from them.

We moved to Cold Ash in May 05, already having children at kennet, my daughter has been accepted there and starts in Sept. We were told there are very rarely any problems if you already have a sibling there and this was the case for us. Also be very careful if you move to Thatcham specifically for this reason because great big chunks of Thatcham are trinity catchment also. That said, i have heard that Trinity is progressing fantastically well, and Mr thingy has been greatly involved in this!
